CAC AmeriCorps

We are beyond ecstatic that Sevier Solid Waste has been selected to be a site host for the 2017-2018 CAC AmeriCorps!  What is AmeriCorps?  AmeriCorps is a network of volunteers (YES - volunteers!) that serve over 2,000 non-profits, public agencies and community organizations.  This intensive service is aimed to meet community needs in education, the environment, public safety, health and homeland security.

Our AmeriCorps member will have the unique opportunity to see first hand the state of the art composting facility and opening in 2017 - the never been done before - materials recovery facility to capture aluminum on the back end of our composting process!  Our member will be key in public outreach - educating our community on the new recycling facility, the importance and necessity of continuing traditional recycling, and the benefits of our compost.  In addition, the member will work directly with farmers, stormwater team and construction projects for compost as used as land applications for farming and erosion control.  Interested in knowing more about the position?  Click here.

We're honored to be selected and are confident that an addition of AmeriCorps will help us raise awareness of the importance of sustainability in our tourism based community.  Welcome CAC AmeriCorps!  We're looking forward to an incredible year ahead!
